School Report 2006

Self-PortraitIf I had a fairy Godmother I would wish for a class full of Freyas to help learn. Freya has a positive approach to all aspects of her learning. It's called 'Let's give it a go.'

An attentive listener in a variety of contexts she can ask relevant questions that challenge me sometimes.

Because of her friendly, approachable personality and kind manner she gets along with children of all ages. Over the year she has demonstrated that she can consider the feelings and needs of others and often comforts children in the class who may be upset with a few kind words and a gentle hug.

One of Freya's strengths is solving a problem. Through the aspects of learning Knowledge and Understanding of the world Freya is confident discussing how we could find the answer to a problem / question such as; 'How can we find the container which holds the most water without measuring it?'

Freya suggested pouring the water from the different containers down a hill and seeing which travels the furthest. She was able to talk about how we would make the test fair and then she carried out her idea.

As discussed at open evenings Freya continues to make good progress in literacy and numeracy and she has amazed all her peers by showing how she can count to 50 in 5's.

A good all-rounder I am looking forward to watching Freya build a towering skyscraper in her continuing years at Monks Abbey from the firm foundations that she has laid in her time in the foundation stage.
